Atlanta, Georgia Chapter

The Atlanta, Georgia Chapter of American Pilgrims serves northern Georgia and is centered on Atlanta. The purpose of local chapters is to keep members connected to the Camino and to introduce new people to the phenomenon. We plan to accomplish this in a number of ways, such as social events, walks, mentoring future pilgrims and serving as a venue for hospitalero training through American Pilgrims.

  • To offer opportunities for local pilgrims to gather and hold events related to the Camino.
  • To mentor future pilgrims, promote the pilgrimage and American Pilgrims through social gatherings.
  • To serve as a local host for hospitalero training in the Atlanta area.

The chapter will be scheduling walks, talks, potlucks and much more! These will be listed here but you may also want to check the Local and Regional Events page for other events that may be of interest. Contact chapter coordinators Jim Martin, Susan Corwin and Mike Smith at [email protected] for more information or to be added to the chapter e-mail list.

Camino Talk!
Saturday, March 16, 2019, 9:30 - 11:30 AM

The Atlanta Chapter invites you to join us for our first ever Camino Talk event on March 16 at Cafe Lucia (1260 W Spring St.) in Smyrna. This is an informal get together with your fellow pilgrims to ask questions and/or talk about the Camino over a cup of coffee or tea. Our focus this time will be the Camino portugués. This has become the 2nd most popular Camino (after the Camino francés), and it's the one we get the most questions about. If you are interested in learning more about this Camino, heres your opportunity. If you have already walked the portugués, please come to share your experiences and answer questions. If you just want to spend some time around the most positive, friendly people you'll ever meet, youre welcome to come, too!

Cafe Lucia is located in the Smyrna Market Village. In addition to great coffee and other beverages, they offer breakfast all day long on the weekends, as well as a lunch menu.

Are you interested in learning more about the Camino?
The Atlanta Chapter Camino Mentor Program can pair individuals who have questions about their upcoming Camino with a nearby veteran who can answer questions. Contact [email protected] for details. Experienced Camino walkers and cyclists who would like to serve as mentors should contact us so that you can be added to our resource list. Also you can visit American Pilgrims on the Camino on Facebook for great dialogue, photos and a running commentary about the Camino from like-minded pilgrims.
